I run digital marketing for watch and jewellery brands in the UAE, including Northgate, Marco Roma and Monaya Diamond. Luxury products behave differently from everyday e-commerce, and a lot of standard Meta Ads advice doesn’t fit them. This is the structure I start from. It isn’t a promise of results, because every brand needs testing, but it avoids the most common mistakes.
Why luxury is different
- People think before they buy. A watch or a ring is a considered purchase, often researched over days or weeks.
- Trust matters more than discounts. Heavy discounting can damage how a luxury brand is seen more than it helps sales.
- Gifting drives demand. Many purchases are gifts, so timing around occasions matters a lot.
- The product has to be seen properly. Detail, finish and scale sell the piece, which puts real pressure on creative quality.
The campaign structure
1. Prospecting: reach new buyers
I usually start broad, with Advantage+ audiences or wide targeting within the UAE, and let strong creative do the targeting. Interest-based audiences can help early on with smaller budgets, but Meta’s delivery has become good at finding buyers when the creative clearly signals who the product is for.
2. Retargeting: bring back the interested
Most luxury buyers won’t purchase on their first visit. A separate retargeting campaign reaches people who viewed products, added to cart or engaged with the brand, and it leans on reassurance: reviews, warranty, delivery, certification and the product shown from new angles.
3. Occasion bursts
The UAE calendar has clear gifting peaks: Ramadan and Eid, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day on 21 March, National Day, and the big seasonal sales such as the Dubai Shopping Festival. I plan creative and budget for these weeks in advance instead of reacting when they arrive.
Creative that works for luxury
- Macro detail. Dial texture, stone settings, clasps. Show the craftsmanship up close.
- On the wrist or on the hand. Scale and styling help people imagine owning it.
- Short video over static images. Movement shows how light plays on metal and stone in a way photos often miss.
- Gift framing. Packaging and the unboxing moment matter when the buyer is shopping for someone else.
- Restraint in the copy. Calm, confident lines work better than shouting about offers.
Measurement
With higher prices and fewer purchases, tracking has to be right or the algorithm learns from bad data. I make sure the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API are both in place, the product catalogue is connected for dynamic ads, and purchase values are passed correctly. I also watch add-to-cart and checkout rates, because they show whether the problem is the ad, the product page or the checkout.
Mistakes I try to avoid
- Judging a campaign after two days. Luxury needs a longer learning window.
- Splitting a small budget across too many ad sets, so none of them learn.
- Running the same discount message all year, which teaches customers to wait.
- Sending ad traffic to a slow or unclear product page. The ad can only do half the work.
